Spatial design and visualisation — 2025. Unbuilt proposal.

A shaded pavilion bringing product display, sensory experiences and space to pause into one setting.

Working with Kick Off Events, I developed a spatial proposal for Whirlpool’s presence at Wanderlust 108. The agency and client brief centred on the five senses, with a washing-machine display integrated into a setting for relaxation and small group activities.

Overall proposal – a timber pergola with textile shading, a furnished platform and an open area for group activities.

Role
Spatial concept development, layout, 3D modelling and visualisation.
COLLABORATORS
Developed with Kick Off Events for Whirlpool. The sensory programme and initial design direction were established through the agency and client brief. My contribution focused on their spatial interpretation and presentation.
Challenge
The proposal needed to bring a product display, lounge, tea bar and sensory activities together within a 10 × 10 m footprint.
The washing machine needed a clear presence within this relaxed setting, while the layout had to accommodate both informal visits and scheduled group sessions.
SOLUTION
A timber pergola and suspended textile strips defined the pavilion, filtering daylight while keeping the front open to the festival. A raised timber platform brought the lounge, product display and tea bar together along the rear, with floor cushions arranged in front for group activities.
The washing machine occupied a dedicated position against the branded backdrop, separate from the refreshments counter. Timber, woven textures, plants and fabric connected the different areas through a consistent material palette.

Product display – the washing machine integrated into the main backdrop, with a simple timber frame and low display furniture.

The interior views developed the atmosphere at a more personal scale: a lounge with listening points, a timber bar for herbal tea, and a colour-and-light feature beside the textile screen. These elements gave the brief’s sensory programme a shared architectural setting.

Lounge and listening area – woven textures, planting and filtered daylight.

Herbal-tea bar – a dedicated refreshments point within the pavilion.

Colour-and-light feature beside the textile screen – concept visualisation.
